Ok. So this morning I read from Psalms 145. I find Psalms a very interesting book because it repeats itself over and over again. mostly talking about praising God's name and blessing Him and how God is always going to put down our enemies. At first I was kinda bored by Psalms but as I read further and further into the book, it started to dawn on me that the reason why these things are said over and over again is because they are important for each one of us to remember. You know, kinda like when you were trying to learn your multiplication tables, you said them over and over and wrote them down again and again and again until finally you GOT IT! God knows we need to hear something multiple times before it sinks into our brains. So let me tell you what God showed me today.
This chapter is, as I said above, like most of Psalms, talking about praising and blessing the name of the Lord. I really think that we do not praise the Lord enough, we come to hime with our requests and pleas and then maybe add in a little "Thank you" there at the end, but we hardly ever Praise his name. (at least I hardly ever do) The psalmist says:
"Everyday will I bless thee: and I will praise Thy name forever and ever." (psalsms 145:2)
We as humans LOVE to be praised and looked up to, do you think God craves it any less? If the psalmist said that he will praise the name of the Lord everyday forever and ever, then maybe I should make an effort to do that in my own personal life too. Take a look at your life. Just step back and think about all the times God has been there for you and all the things he has done for you. Maybe you will see that yes indeed there is Something to praise his name for. Those wonderful flowers in the back yard, your wonderful parents, you sweet children, your job, your friends. Think about it for a moment and then say a prayer and thank him for those things in your life and praise him for being so WONDERFUL.
Another verse that I read was verse 18 it says:
" THe Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth" (psalms 145:18)
Wow! Did you catch that? He is night unto all them that call upon his name IN TRUTH! God is always going to be there for us when we call on him, but it is when we call on him in truth that he draws nigh unto us. God never tires of our call. we should NEVER tire of praising Him.

Wow Merry, that is awesome. I'm so thankful that you are blogging this!!! I never thought of it this way. I know now by reading what you wrote it out. I do crave the thanks and the pat on the back for what we do and who we are. Why should I think or not think that God would crave this any less then me. We do need to praise him and thank him for so much!!!
