Proverbs 1:7,27-29

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction." (psalms 1:7)

This verse is so powerful! who would have guessed that fearing the Lord would lead you to knowledge? And those people, the ones who think they are so wonderful and cool, the ones who don't listen when people give them advice and instruction, the rebellious person, they are the FOOL. The verses that follow verse 7 are all warnings to the one who does not take the wise counsel of those around them. There is destruction and death for them. Verses 27-29 talk about those who continually ignore the Lord and the wisdom he offers.

"When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind: when distress and anguish cometh upon you. Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer: they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: for that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:" (Proverbs 1:27-29)

Since these poor fools have pushed God away time and time again, God finally has to reject them. We really need to make sure that we are seeking that knowledge that only comes from God. If we are not, then how can God have pity on us when we meet our destruction? I choose today to walk in the knowledge and wisdom that God hands out freely! I want to make sure that in my day of reckoning, I have God on my side.

Psalms 148:7-13, 150:6

I read these last three chapters of Psalms and they all say the same thing, Praise Gods name. There were a few verses thought that really caught my attention. Chapter 148:7-13. Here we find a list of who should praise the Lord. It starts with the deep and all the elements praising his name, and then goes into the mountains and hills, the trees, Beasts, creeping things and birds, kings, princes, and all people of the earth, judges, men and women, old and young. And why do all these things need to praise God?

"Let them praise the name of the Lord: for his name alone is excellent; His glory is above the eart and heaven." (Psalms 148:13)
it then says in chapter 150
"Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord." (Psalms 150:6)

When I read all these verses, I couldn't help but remember the time when Jesus was in the temple and all the people came to him praising his name and the Pharassese wanted them to be quieted and Jesus said that if they were quieted, the trees and rocks would cry out. This just really makes me think that if all these things are praising His name, then why have we, the superior and smarter race, started to only gripe and complain to God? What happened to us praising his name?
In her comment that she made on chapter 150, Ellen White, says

"We too often forget that 'Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and cometh down from the father of lights.'"

If we were to keep that in mind, always remembering that God is the only reason that we are alive today and that we are even able to do the most simplestic tasks, those really all are blessings given out from the thrown of God.
God bless you

Psalms 146 3-6,10

Well hello again. It is my second day with this and I am feeling blessed! I hope you are too. I read psalms 146 and 147 today and I picked up on some really neat things in chapter 146 let me share them with you.

"Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man in whom there is no help. His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts parish." (Psalms 146:3,4)

When I first read this verse, I thought; man, someone reading this might become depressed to think that all our leaders can not be trusted and that they are going to parish... most of you know this already, but really, how many of us do put our trust in political leaders? We trust them to lead us through tough times. Well, maybe we don't trust them to do it, but we sure do expect that they will right? Anyways, I had a second thought about this verse; the power that these leaders have, where does it come from? All the power that they posses comes from GOD. And if they do hold power that God gives them, how long is that going to last? Till the end of their term perhaps? Or until they turn to dust? Well, lets keep reading verses 5 and 6.

"Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God: which made heaven , and earth, the sea, and all that therein is: which keepthe truth forever." (psalms 146:5,6)

Wow, we don't have to worry about this ruler telling us lies, he "keepeth truth forever." and he has all power. BUt read what comes next in verse 10.

"The Lord shall reign forever, even they God, O Zion, unto all generations. Praise ye the LORD."

This God that we have has NO end of term, he just rules forever, Oh, and he will NEVER die. Man, I want to be true to this all powerful, never dying ruler. Don't you? I think I will stay on his side.
God Bless!

Psalms 145 :2, 18

Ok. So this morning I read from Psalms 145. I find Psalms a very interesting book because it repeats itself over and over again. mostly talking about praising God's name and blessing Him and how God is always going to put down our enemies. At first I was kinda bored by Psalms but as I read further and further into the book, it started to dawn on me that the reason why these things are said over and over again is because they are important for each one of us to remember. You know, kinda like when you were trying to learn your multiplication tables, you said them over and over and wrote them down again and again and again until finally you GOT IT! God knows we need to hear something multiple times before it sinks into our brains. So let me tell you what God showed me today.

This chapter is, as I said above, like most of Psalms, talking about praising and blessing the name of the Lord. I really think that we do not praise the Lord enough, we come to hime with our requests and pleas and then maybe add in a little "Thank you" there at the end, but we hardly ever Praise his name. (at least I hardly ever do) The psalmist says:
"Everyday will I bless thee: and I will praise Thy name forever and ever." (psalsms 145:2)
We as humans LOVE to be praised and looked up to, do you think God craves it any less? If the psalmist said that he will praise the name of the Lord everyday forever and ever, then maybe I should make an effort to do that in my own personal life too. Take a look at your life. Just step back and think about all the times God has been there for you and all the things he has done for you. Maybe you will see that yes indeed there is Something to praise his name for. Those wonderful flowers in the back yard, your wonderful parents, you sweet children, your job, your friends. Think about it for a moment and then say a prayer and thank him for those things in your life and praise him for being so WONDERFUL.
Another verse that I read was verse 18 it says:
" THe Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth" (psalms 145:18)
Wow! Did you catch that? He is night unto all them that call upon his name IN TRUTH! God is always going to be there for us when we call on him, but it is when we call on him in truth that he draws nigh unto us. God never tires of our call. we should NEVER tire of praising Him.

My plan

Hello, my name is Merry.
I have never done a blog before and I have actually NEVER EVER been interested in doing one. Seems like I had a change of my today while I was taking my shower. I all of a sudden thought that it would be fun to write a blog so here I am! My plan is to study my bible in the morning and write down what I have learned. It is my attempt to get in the habit of reading my Bible everyday.
Anyways, it shall be fun... I hope. God bless you
